Welcome to my professional portfolio. I'm Cecilia Pereira, an instructional designer and educator passionate about creating engaging, accessible, and learner-centered educational experiences.
I currently serve as an Instructional Designer at Westmoreland County Community College, where I partner with faculty to design high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses, support instructional technology, and facilitate professional development that promotes student success.
I also teach as an Adjunct Instructor in the Early Childhood Education Department, where I enjoy preparing future educators through practical, research-based learning experiences that connect theory to practice.
Throughout my career, I have worked in curriculum development, faculty training, educational technology, and assessment. These experiences have reinforced my belief that effective learning begins with understanding the needs of the learner. Whether I am designing a course, leading a workshop, or teaching in the classroom, my goal is to create learning experiences that are engaging, inclusive, and meaningful.

Meet Cecilia Pereira.
AGILE
I was introduced to Agile during my master's program, and it immediately felt like a natural fit for the way I approach instructional design. My background in early childhood education and nonprofit organizations taught me that projects rarely go exactly as planned. Being able to adapt, collaborate with others, and respond to feedback has always been an important part of my work.
That's why I enjoy using Agile. It allows me to work closely with stakeholders, make improvements throughout the design process, and stay focused on what learners need rather than waiting until the end of a project to make changes. For me, Agile isn't just a project management method—it's a practical way to create better learning experiences.
Tinkerer at Heart
I'm a lifelong learner and a problem solver. I enjoy learning new skills, exploring new technologies, and figuring out how things work. Whether I'm troubleshooting a technical issue, improving a process, or designing a learning experience, I like finding practical solutions that make a real difference.
I believe the best learning happens when we stay curious and are willing to keep improving. That mindset shapes how I approach instructional design. I enjoy experimenting, gathering feedback, and refining my work to create learning experiences that are engaging, effective, and focused on the needs of the learner.
Leveling Up Learning
I've always loved games. Growing up, family gatherings usually ended with everyone gathered around a card game, and those experiences taught me how games bring people together, encourage problem-solving, and make learning fun.
That appreciation naturally found its way into my instructional design. I first saw the power of game-based learning while working with young children, but I've found it's just as effective with adult learners. Whether it's adding challenges, badges, friendly competition, or interactive activities, I enjoy using elements of play to increase engagement and make learning more memorable.
For me, gamification isn't about turning everything into a game—it's about creating experiences that motivate learners, encourage participation, and make learning something people genuinely enjoy.
